There are over 200 teachers in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales (and a few other countries, e.g. France). Can’t find a local teacher- Check neighbouring counties/towns (counties are listed alphabetically under Sussex, Yorkshire North, etc.). How to Use this Table

There are 2 different ways of searching:
Method 1. Use 1st search box and click red button below labelled “County” for a ‘drop down’ list of counties.  Select a county to see list of local teachers.  (N.B. Multiple counties / countries can be selected, cumulatively.  As each county filter is selected, it will appear in a blue list below the red button. To remove a county “filter”, hover over that county, a line will appear over that county, then click to remove that county name.)
Method 2.  Use 2nd search box to search for town, city or teacher name.

Important Notes

The very best way to learn how to help the health of your lower back through the ‘Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs’ (YHLB Yoga) programme is to attend the 12-class YHLB Yoga course taught by a trained and qualified YHLB Yoga teacher, along with the YHLB Yoga Resources Pack (book, practice sequences, hand-outs and Relaxation tracks).

Yoga teachers listed  are already qualified and experienced yoga teachers who have additionally trained  in the specific specialised evidence-based ‘Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs’ programme. 

There are teachers in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France and a few other countries (view the end of the Register of Teachers page).  To find a teacher, please contact several teachers individually for details of their next courses and/or to be put on the Wait-List for their next 12-class YHLB Yoga course.  Also check neighbouring counties/towns.  (N./S./E./W. counties will be listed alphabetically under Yorkshire, Sussex, etc.) 

Please note – you will need to pre-book for courses and get your Resources Pack, ideally at least a month or two before a course start-date, so please make contact early to express your interest.

This single course will empower you to self-manage your back comfort and health for the long-term (forever!?).  Expect to gain additional positive mental and physical health benefits.

The Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs has been assessed and approved as a ‘British Wheel of Yoga’ (yoga governing body for Sport England and Sport & Recreation Alliance UK) Recognized Centre for excellence in training and standards’.  

Alison Trewhela (University of York lead yoga consultant and YHLB programme designer) continues to train teachers in the ‘Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs’ programme.  Teachers listed on this YHLB Teachers’ Register are self-employed.

We apologise if there is currently no teacher in your area.  We met our aim to have 300 trained in the UK by the end of 2013 and we are continuing to build on demand, maintain standards and quality, whilst supporting existing teachers.  You could ask a few experienced yoga teachers in your area if they would be willing to train.
