The very best way to learn how to help the health of your lower back is to attend a ‘Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs’ course with a trained, qualified teacher, along with the book and Relaxations CD. This once-off course will enable you to self-manage your back health for the long-term (for ever!?) with extra positive mental and physical health benefits.
Individuals seeking a course should contact local teachers listed below, including Trainee Teachers, to be put on the Wait-Lists for next courses. Some areas, e.g. Cornwall, have Teaching Teams set up - click on the *CORNWALL TEAM to see potential teaching locations, days of week plus centralized Booking Manager contact details.
We apologize if there is currently no teacher in your area - please understand that it will take some time to have trained teachers available throughout the country. We met our aim to have 200 trained in the UK by the end of 2012 and are continuing to build on demand. You could ask a few experienced yoga teachers in your area if they would be willing to train. You could ask your GP or health provider/commissioning body/Healthwatch group to contact us about providing a team of teachers in your area.
Yoga teachers listed on this page are trained (or training in) in the ‘Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs’ programme. They have already qualified in, and had considerable experience of, general yoga teaching before training in this more specific yoga with the focus on lower back health. Trainee Teachers listed below will currently be teaching a mentor-supported course, so please contact them for their next course. There are also other trainee teachers studying in the areas listed at the bottom of the page – keep watching the website and/or subscribe to our newsletter for updates.
